Nike Run NYC Shakeout

To set the stage for NYC Marathon weekend, Nike sought a moment that truly honored the runners who bring the city’s streets to life. Together, we created a vibrant pre-race celebration—the Community Shakeout Run—designed to energize more than 1,200 participants and dozens of neighborhood run clubs. The gathering served as a powerful reminder of how deeply rooted running culture is in New York, and how shared movement can unify a community on the eve of its biggest race.

Fueling the City Before the Big City Race

Guests were welcomed with a series of interactive touchpoints that showcased their pride and personal goals. Custom backdrops and club-branded signage made for memorable photo moments, while a dedicated Goal Wall invited runners to jot down what they hoped to achieve—whether during the shakeout or in the marathon itself. Before heading out on the 3.1-mile warm-up, DJ Suaso set the tone with high-energy music, and Nike Coaches and Athletes offered inspiring words. Post-run, the crowd regrouped over snacks and refreshments, collecting exclusive tees and totes that marked the occasion.
